When I talk to accounting firm owners about apps, one of the topics that always seems to come up is practice management software.
No developer dominates the market, and none has yet built a comprehensive, cloud solution for organizing and facilitating everything that goes on in a modern, paperless accounting or bookkeeping firm.
The situation is so bad that some firms have resorted to building their own practice management software.
(BKE) is one such firm. Keith Mueller, CEO of BKE, recently gave me a demo of the firm’s new tool, BKE Insight
BKE Insight is a custom-built client dashboard that connects to both Xero and QuickBooks Online to pull in financial reports.
The firm’s bookkeepers use BKE Insight instead of email to ask questions, request documents, and track time, and complete checklists. The firm’s managers use the app’s monitoring features to ensure that client work is delivered on time and under budget.
I’m curious to know what other firms have developed their own in-house practice management software.
Have you built your own? Or are you using something off the shelf?
Either way, how is it working out for you? I’m curious to know!
