We live in an amazing time!
This past week, I presented a webinar for 1,700 IMA members — but I didn’t call from my desk. I was on the road at events for FloQast, so instead I dialed into the webinar via Skype from the bridal suite of an events center in Fairfield, Ohio. And everything worked flawlessly.
Other than the need to socialize with the team, there’s no reason I need to be in the office. Everything I need to be productive fits in a small backpack.
A day earlier, I was halfway between Cleveland and Columbus when I needed to join a conference call. So I stopped the car for coffee at the only Starbucks for miles. As I was chatting with our team in San Francisco and Los Angeles, an Amish horse and buggy drove straight across my field of vision out the window of that Starbucks. Immediately, I thought of my grandfather, who grew up on a farm with no running water or electricity, and drove a horse and buggy to school every day.
Things sure have changed a lot in 100 years.
So, my fellow accountants — are you going to be the guy with the backpack, or the horse and buggy?
Think it over, and in the meantime, please enjoy this collection of the top links I clicked on this past week.
