Recently I was asked to speak at the The CFO Leadership Council annual conference in Boston. The theme was “Radical CFO,” so I thought I’d do something a bit unusual and share a lesson I learned about leadership as a young cellist (in my life before accounting):

Automation and artificial intelligence are eliminating much of the tedious work historically part of the accounting profession. It’s attracting more creative types into the profession. And if you want to successfully manage a more creative team, you need to take a different approach to leadership — more like an orchestra conductor than a dictator.
